Rules

OFFICIAL RULES
STANDARD HOCKEY MB. & HOCKEY CANADA RULES APPLY

Rosters and Game Sheets– Rosters must be verified by the team manager/coach before the first game.  Each game sheet must be verified and signed by either manager or coach before each game.  Please select starting goaltender for each game.
A player can only be rostered on one team.

Teams:   Teams should be ready 10 minutes prior to game start.

Players of the Game -   Players line up on their blue line at the conclusion of the game for awards.   Coaches will pick their own team's player of the game and inform the timekeeper.

Dressing Room – The team manager and/or coach are responsible for the condition of the dressing room.  Please keep them clean.  Dressing Room locks are not provided at the Keystone Centre.  Locks will be available to sign out at the TOC office (Salon A) with a deposit.  J and G Arena has keys for each dressing room that must be left on hook inside dressing room door following each game.

GENERAL RULES:
  1. Players that accumulate four minor penalties in one game will receive a game ejection for that game only. (Double minor is one penalty)
  2. Floods every two periods in all games except in the A-side Final in all divisions.  A flood will occur at the start of each A-Side Final Game after the 2nd period. After Ice Clean – Only players on the starting lineup are permitted on the ice.
  3. Gross Misc. & Match Penalties – Players or coach will be suspended for the remainder of the Tournament.
  4. Team Official Conduct - Should the tournament committee feel that any member of the coaching staff or team management has treated players, on-ice and minor officials with disrespect at any time, a suspension may be put forth.  The tournament committee reserves the right to terminate any game progressing in an unruly manner and appoint a winner.  If any team official is ejected from the game, he or she will be suspended for an additional two games.  
  5. If a player is serving a penalty at the conclusion of overtime, they are ineligible to shoot in a shoot out.
  6. Teams may choose to change players on an icing.
  7. Teams must follow their own provincial/state regulations during this tournament. (ie: mouthguards, neck guards, etc.)
TOURNAMENT GAME FORMAT: 
– All Divisions -   Games will consist of two 15-Minute and one 20-minute period.  Warm-up will be 4 minutes.  If late coming on the ice your warm-up will be the remainder of time on clock.
MERCY RULE – The mercy rule will apply when there is a five-goal difference after the first period period.  If the lead is decreased to a four-goal difference the clock will then stop after each whistle.  Minor penalties will be two minutes run time.
OVERTIME– For all games (including round robin) if the score is tied after regulation time play, there will be a five-minute stop time sudden victory period (three on three).  If still tied after Overtime, there will be a three-player shootout format.  If still tied it will be a one player shootout until a winner is declared.  All players from a team must shoot before a player may shoot for a second time.  Any player serving a penalty at the end of Overtime shall not be permitted to shoot in the shootout. Home team will have the choice to shoot first or last. 
FORFEIT RULE – The game will score 3-0.
TIME-OUT – Each team will have one 30 second timeout per game including overtime
JERSEYS – Each team is to carry two sets of jerseys to all games.  If your team only has one set, you must notify the tournament in advance.  HOME Team will wear Dark, and AWAY Team will wear white jerseys.

ROUND ROBIN STANDINGS AND TIE- BREAKER RULES
 
  1. In Round Robin POOL play, teams are awarded 2 points for a WIN1 point for an OVERTIME or SHOOTOUT LOSS and 0 points for a REGULATION LOSS.  There are NO Ties. 
  2. If two teams are tied in standings, the result of the round robin game involving the tied teams will determine the higher seed.  If three teams are tied, the team which has a 2-0 record against the tied teams will advance.  In the 3- tied teams’ scenario, after one team advances, the tie breaker process begins again.  Head-to-head result between the two remaining teams will determine the higher seed of the two teams.
  3. If teams are still tied after #2, then the team with the fewest goals allowed would qualify.
  4. If teams are still tied after #2 & #3 then the team with the best goal average(ratio) from Round Robin play will be the higher seed, with the next best ratio have the next highest seed, and so on.  The goal average of a team is determined by dividing the total number of goals for and against into the total number of goals for.  The team having the highest percentage(ratio) will have the higher position.
  5. Coin Toss.
